Yundi to make Turkish debut on June 2

Yundi to make Turkish debut on June 2: On June 2, Yundi will make his Turkish debut with a piano recital that celebrates the country’s 2012 China Cultural Year, the most comprehensive initiative to promote Chinese culture abroad and enhance relations between Turkey and China to date. Yundi begins his Cemal Resit Rey Concert Hall performance with five Chopin Nocturnes, works that showcase an array of musical characters and moods. He continues the program with the Polish composer’s dazzling Andante Spianato et Grande Polonaise Brillante before taking on the Piano Sonata in B-flat minor, a pianistic tour-de-force of technical brilliance and lyrical intensity. Yundi concludes his recital with three works from his native China: Pi Huang (Beijing Opera), Colourful Clouds Chasing the Moon, and In That Place Wholly Faraway.
