Yundi to ring in 2014 with spectacular Beijing concert

On New Year's Eve, Yundi will ring in the new year with a spectacular concert at the Beijing Worker's Stadium before an audience of nine thousand. Plans for the festivities, announced earlier this week at a Beijing press conference, include specially designed visual installations and a solar-system-inspired, 360-degree concert stage, meant to represent the power of music. For the event, Yundi will also give his first public performance of Schumann's Fantasie in C Major. Sales for the concert exceeded 1 million RMB in just the first day.

Yundi encourages young pianists with keynote address, performance and masterclass at Southwest Associated University Forum

On Wednesday, November 6, Yundi delivered the seventh annual keynote address at the Southwest Associated University Forum, giving insight and guidance to young piano students assembled at Yunnan Normal University in Kunming. Thousands of students queued for one of the 130 available tickets to the event, which included solo performances by Yundi as well as one-on-one instruction with two piano majors at the university. Those who were unable to obtain a seat inside the auditorium were able to enjoy the outdoor simulcast.

"Dreams are really important for me and all of you," said Yundi. "People come across many troubles and difficulties; but based on my career, I believe learning music needs confidence, persistence, courage, and focus."
